Think my car was in an accident

Well it seems my car was wrecked at some point in the past, that didnt show up on the carfax. There is no vin sticker on the drivers door, and the chrome on it is in a bit better shape than the passenger door, so I suspect its been replaced. I didnt notice this when I bought the car, but its a little concerning. At least the front and rear bumper (possibly the whole car) has been repainted (corner of front bumper has paint cracking pretty bad).

I havent had any problems with it so far (4months) other than typical headlights and heating, and suspension. Done outer tie rods and upper control arms, + bushings.
But is there anything else I should check? Also where can I find the vin number on the car then?

The front fendeers have a sticker right close to top edge that is covered when the hood is closed.

my 93 i used to have was repainted..i didnt notice until months after i bought it.. i found the original owner and it turns out his ex wife/girlfriend keyed the ever loving hell out of it on both sides front to back..so he had to repaint.. not so bad...

so maybe your car has had something minor too..like maybe they backed up with the door open or something like that... most non-major accidents are NOT reported if the damage is minor enough to just pay cash for

My first Mark had a switch to shut off the odometer, so who knows how many actual miles are on it. When I got it back in 03, it had 62,000 miles and I didn't find the switch till a month later.

Really? Just how was this switch hooked up? To the speedometer wires or something?

That's unique, Maybe it was a lease at some point & they wanted to keep the miles low?

I had an original 1959 T-Bird - 100% original from the factory 25K on the clock. the paint was OK, so for years we left it alone, but after a while it became apparent the passenger fender had been repainted. The original owner from which I bought has no recollection, nor any paperwork on it (had every nut, bolt, washer, gas receipt from 10/2/1958 when he bought it. Finally we found out that when the car was off loaded at the dealership a tie down fell down from the rack above and scraped the fender. the dealer repainted it before it was sold - charged the transport company driver $56 for it. My point being not everything is officially reported. If it holds up - no worries.
