Hi guys i am currently in the process of taking the engine out of my 96 mark8. everything has been unpluged and moved out of the way. but my qustion is were can i bolt the engine lift to? (i am taking it out if the top) i cant find were the bolts should be any ideas?

If you look at this thread you will see what I used to remove the engine. On the opposite side of the motor in the back is a bracket, simply remove the bracket, use the bolt supplied and yank the motor....hope that helps....if you need pix of the rear I have an engine on a stand and I can hook ya up.

did you guys lift the engine out with the trans still bolted on? cuz i am trying to and it is not working and i am wondering if it is possable to lift it out with the trans still on it. also the oil pan it getting jamed to the sub frame so the engine wont lift. what type of angle does the engine need to be at for it to finaly lift out?

The oil pan shouldn't be catching on the subframe. Did you disconnect the ground cables? One on each side of the engine, Passenger side bolted into one of the motor mount bolts, the driver side... I can't remember, but I want to say another motor mount bolt. You'll need to slide the engine forward a tad bit to clear the torque converter to flexplate nipple. Then it should come straight up.

You'll also have the power cable going to the starter (running in front of the engine) that is bolted down to the k member in the front under the engine, and to the side of the engine on the pass side.

As far as the engine and tranny coming out together, it's theoretically doable, but it's a lot easier to undo the bellhousing bolts... al least in my opinion.

I had the same problem with the oil pan on the passenger side. You have to rotate the engine to lift that side up. Or you need a much greater angle of accent. If the car is on lifts, you could also try lowering the rear of the car as I had to do.

I did mine with trans attached.

I did disconnect the ground cable on the passenger side but thought that is was the only one and it did not need one on the other side so i will need to disconnect that. as for the oil pan mine is stuck on the pass side too i will do what u guys said tomorrow or later this week and tell you guys how it goes thanks for the help.
