Engine Building

Allright, I have a 97 lsc with a fully built trans with a shift kit, k+n intake I fabbed of a cobra, flow 40's, superchip micro tuner.

Yes I will supercharge in near future, but I would like to know if anyone has done major motor work like a stroker kit, bore job, port and polishing, anything extreme like that. I would like to know where to get it done, how much it cost and of course was it worth it?

Depending on your budget, you'll want to start with local shops then branch out from there depending on what the locals offer. Full rebuilds with port/polish work very a great deal where cost is concerned.

With a SC in the future, a full build would be well worth it because you can use lower compression forged pistons and the rod of your choice.

I wouldn't stroke the motor, but I'd build the heads and extend the usable rpm band to 8000.

You'll want to look on some of the Mustang forums for this kind of thing, honestly... Just look for 96-98 Cobra stuff instead of Mark VIII info.

A3 you should address how much money you really want to spend. When you start talking super chargers, modified heads etc you really open up to a major investment. You should also decide what you want the car to do. Track only, street only, or a little of both, or some compromise. Once you have some of these items selected then you will be able to move on to what type of SC (centrifical, roots, twin screw) you can afford to go with, and what engine combo best fits the total program. Some of the suggestions for lowering your compression may make sense if you decide to run a centrifical that you will operate at high rpm and high boost, where
as myself I have twin screw with a slightly elevated compression ratio.
You also will be in better knowledge of what rear gears you will want to run as well, including whether you are going to spring for headers and a new exhaust.
Hope this aids to get your project heading in the right direction, oh and another item would be to find a shop who will sit down and go thru your requirements, and build you something that will fulfill them. If you don't have one locally I can tell you that there are many people around the country, including myself who will point you to Alternative Automotive in Detroit as one of the best in the business.

Was it worth it:

You should check out ford racings new aluminator long block. All new parts and a price that will be hard to beat any where.

strokers in a 4.6L tend to have a shorter life span due to piston protrusion at BDC...

i went w/ DSS 5.0L forged stroker kit 03 cobra heads stg2 porting. had alot ofspray on it then switched to a Kenne Bell 2.8L Absolutly loved the motor ran 20k miles for me and still running. built it myself w/ some friends
