Hello

I am new here,
Wondering how much the stock transmission from my car can handle
and if there are any free mods to do to the car.

Also what aftermarket stuff is there for the car, it has the cobra motor in it i know that,

base hp is 260 right.
do they make a chip to program it, and a filter charger kit or something. does anyone have a shot of the trottlebody that they can send me.

Sorry for all the questions strait off the cuff.

Thanks
Matt.

Welcome Aboard.

Not Much Aftermarket.

Mods: Chrome Pillars, Wood Grain Kits, H.I.D.s, Rims, Tints, Cobrastar Emblems, Led Lighting, things of that nature....

Free Mods: I'm sure their are a few the only one that comes to mind atm is taking off the air silencer to give the car a meaner growl at idle. The how to is around here somewhere you may have to do a search for it, even check the tech articles section.

Base HP is 260-265 I believe

Chips: I think so, ask Geno from Lincoln Motorsports in the Vendor Section he'd know more.

Transmission: Mine just got a rebuild at 165k Miles so solid for the most part but they have they're problems. These cars need basic maintenance and upkeep and they'll last you awhile

A regular trans fluid change interval is quite important on these due to the power and weight on the fwd trans. 97 did add an extra tranny cooler so that helps. If you start adding power you may want to use amsoil, redline mercon V compatible synthetics to help with the additional stress plus add longer change intervals. You could have a ecm tune and I believe I've read that before they changed the heads and iirc tuning. You can get a descent amount of hp/tq from a port/polish. I know its after 97 when they changed, but I can't remenber which year but when they did the base hp is 275. You can still port/polish after they changed but the new heads were more efficent mostly at high end, hence the increased power. But they don't benefit as much from the port/polish as the ones before them are more "detuned".
