I work at a local Caddy dealer. I custom tune Northstar's.
I slightly hijacked a thread. Sorry
You ford guy are far behind the times.
The DHS is a customers of mine and former dealership employee.
I have been asked to join this forum by several members.
I see you ford guy's have been able to run your mouths. I agree The caddy aftermarket and tuning market was limited, so guess what. I can make a caddy GO. I am currently working on a LS1 PCM and tune for a Northstar. When GM put this together they made 320hp from a 4.0L with 4.6L cams. The base 4.0L made only 250 hp. Big jump! Now I am just about ready to put this back together for myself first and then I have a line of customers.
.
If you want to see a 12 second Northstar I will be at GLD on saturday. Highline Cady aka Bert will be at the track with his 03 DHS.

I watched the you tube video. Definitely a 15.0 pass at 94 based on the stock gearing and shift point with your DHS.

Not bad for grandma's car.

Do you have to wear wrist straps to deal with the torque-steer?
No torque steer on the DHS. Stock spec is 275hp VIN Y
It has gears in it

That is nothing for my Northstar. It is a 12 second car. Yes I can smoke the tires. I can smoke the tires like that for blocks. All I need to do that is three adjustments. I crank up my Trans pressure, turn off the torque management, and adjust my weight transfer. Of course I have them set so I don't do that.
I will be at GLD on saturday. I will in the 12s with street tires.

lol ill bet 100 dollars that caddy is running quicker than 12's. No one puts in that much time and money to run 12 seconds!

It may run quicker than mine, but it is a BBC and mine is a Northstar

My parents had Caddies with the so called "NorthStar" power plant. They dont have them anymore. Head gaskets. They now have a Lincoln and a VW.

Are head gaskets still an issue? These were a 2001 and 2003 DTS? Something that started with a D

I have only seen 1 00+ head gasket fail

The head gasket failures in 93 to 99 is more common. The head gasket is not the root cause failure, but a result of another problem. That problem was corrected in 2000 and then they revised it again in mid 2003
