96 Lincoln: keypad code disappeared after changing master window switch! !Help!

Hey everyone, I recently changed the master power window switch on my 96 continental with one from a different vehicle(a 97 conti), it works fine but my factory keypad code went out, it only responds to pressing the 1/2 five times, and all the other buttons function correctly, but it doesnt accept the factory code and wont recycle to reprogram the remote!

Posted this in Conti forums and someone said they thought the code was stored in the switch itself and I would need the code from the vehicle the switch came from. I have the VIN# of the vehicle the part came from, but not the code....question is: can anyone verify that the code is in the switch and that i would need that vehicles code? and...can the dealership find the code from the VIN# of the parted car, and would they? any info would be of help.. I trust you all first so thats why Im asking before going to dealership, Thanks

just to update, yeah you are right the code is in the switch, i noticed that the code was stickered on the original switch, and sure enough the code was stickered on the replaced switch, works fine now...
BTW before I discovered this I called the local ford/lincoln dealer service and they stated that the window switch has nothing to do with the code, it was in a module behind the dash, and that they MIGHT be able to pull it for $85.00. Guess they werent familiar with 95-97 Lincolns or they wanted $85.00.
Thanks
