Last night i went out to my garage to begin working on replacing the compressor and relay, when i noticed my mark was ON THE GROUND! I started driving it out and a funny thumping sound came from the rear. The steering wheel was also shuddering. It only seems to do this when i took my foot of the gas. I decided to leave the repairs for another day since i didnt want to open a new can of worms. Anybody know what that sound is and what parts i should start ordering?

was the front and rear on the ground? did you replace the compressor and relay? and if so, did you hear the compressor kick on to fill the bags? as far as the sound goes, to me it could be that their isn't any air in the system. remember when you are driving w/o any air in the bags, you steering will become compromised some-what. first thing check for any leaks, the soapy water trick is recommended. but if you think that your going to dump a lot of money in the air suspension, i advise you to purchase the coil conversion kit. i dumped a ton in the air ride and it got me nowhere fast. that is just my 2 cents! good luck w/ it and let us know what the out come is.

driveshaft binding maybe, do what you were going to do and then worry about the second problem if it is still there, relay, compressor ..your car sounds like it does not like sitting on the ground

Its not likely that the driveshaft is binding, since I drive my car slammed on the ground almost all the time, and have never had that issue. That noise might have been that you were dragging some portion of the car when you were backing it out. What size tires/wheels do you have? I need a bit more information to make a better guess at what your problem could have been.

The wheels are stock,225/55zr16 tires. I only get the thumping when my foot is off the throttle, under acceleration no noise at all.
