kooks headers

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: 96mark8

any one know the hp gains from kooks headers?

Posted by: evillally

About 20rwhp.

Posted by: 96mark8

ok thats alot

Posted by: driller

In my experience, at least 15 RWHP.

Posted by: Battery

Anyone actually have dyno results to show this?

Posted by: 98LSC32V

You will gain more on a 96-98 car because they come with more restrictive stock manifolds. I think 15rwhp is a good estimate though.

My results were from conservative analysis of timeslips at the track before and after. On average, I realized a corrected gain of 0.17 seconds quarter mile ET and an improvement of 1.67 mph quarter mile trap speed.

JP, you are using magnaflow highflow cats moved further downstream with the Kooks right?

Posted by: 96mark8

I am think of running no cats how much would that help. Compared to if i was running cats?

Posted by: Battery

Thank you, this is like the 5th thread I've posted this in and I finally got a real answer.

No cats here!

Or here!

Posted by: papa bear

that is the best exhaust set up i have seen on a mark viii how long does the doors take to open and close on the dumps and do they seal well

Posted by: driller

It takes about 3-5 seconds to open or close. There is a small amount of leakage. But when they are open, it is badass!

Posted by: 96mark8

what cats could i run and not loose power any good ones?

Posted by: papa bear

that looks like a $600 plus set up. catco i think has high flow cats local shops should have them summit/ jegs racing will have them in stock to order online

Posted by: 96mark8

ok thanks

Posted by: JoeyLincolnMK8

for "about" 15 HP increase, those headers are not worth $600+ IMHO!

Posted by: 96mark8

I am going to get kooks headers high flow cats 2.5 tubing all the way down and a lms cat back system or borla. so i think it is worth it then i am all done with the exuast for a long time!!!!

the increase will be more with more mods. speed costs money. if you wanna save 600 bucks cause you dont think its worth it...you will lose.

my cobra has long tubes and i believe in them. mine has a 2.93 pulley, long tubes/catless x-pipe, catback, and an intake. guy i raced had catless x, catback, intake, throttle body, tune, 2.76 upper and a 2lb lower. i destroyed him time after time and had 4mph on him at the track.

bro, you are supercharged! and upgrading the pulley will increase boost, so of course you are gonna be fast. dont get me wrong, i want headers, but the cost is too high. i bet you didnt pay 600+ for your headers right?

I want to buy some headers for my 97. Where is the best place to buy them?

Posted by: driller

Supercoupeperformance.com is the exclusive retailer of Kooks for the Mark VIII and I know of no other direct bolt-on headers.
