my 2002 ls has about 72000 miles on it. it started shifting into gear very roughly and when id stop at lights or stop signs the car wud drop below 500 rmp for a second then go back to normal. when i am in P or N the car sounds fine but as soon as it goes into D it sounds like a desiel and seems to take to long to change into the next gear (its a auto) ive had sum1 tell me its a soleniod , i changed that, still acts up has any1 every had this issue or have any idea how 2 deal with it ...tranny rebuild? hope not!

you are saying there is a delay between the time you select drive and the time the tranny actually goes into gear. that could be fixed with a reflash of the pcm. if you search solenoids or transmission with the search defined to the Lincoln LS portion of the forum, you should come up with some good information.

If it is not idling properly it can't be your tranny most likely your valve body.
