97 Climate control head work in a 93 Mark?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Checking if the hard style button climate control head from a 97 Mark VIII will work in a 93 Mark VIII.
The adds state they should work for different years. I noticed the lower buttons in the newer version are not in the same order as the older one.

Thanks
David M.

No, only 93-96

So the only Climate control heads that will work on the 93 Mark are from 93-96? Not the 97 unit?

There have been a few people who claim that a later unit worked in their cars, but the general rule is no.

i had a 97-98 in my 95,it worked but not 100% correctly,on some airflow settings i would only have low/high fan,no variable fan, plus some lights would not light,in a pinch it will work, but your better off getting a gen1 unit for a gen 1 car

i have the 95-96 climate control unit and it works just fine.

just get a 96 from max at 5 star it was like 160 or something like. they go used on e-bay for about 100

I have one from a Conti in my 93 works great plus you can choose the outdoor temp and it stays on.

Really? Maybe I need to switch. Is it the newer design?

The one in my son's 93 is from a 97 Mark, and it works fine.

I tried to get one to work in my 94 from a 97 and it just blew the defrost constantly.

If you have a pick your part junkyard nearby, check there first. I have plucked at least a half dozen for $10 each.

Thanks for all your replies. A EBAY purchase resulted in a climate head for a 97 Town Car instead of for the Mark, (it was listed for the Mark). I would have to chop up the trim piece to much for it to work.

Trying to get a refund. I know of a local place that will make plastic laminate labels, will check if he can make ones small enough for the buttons on my unit.

I have an extra AC control unit. PM me.
