Chevy Cobalt

What do you guys think of this new car from Chevrolet?

I was very excited to hear that Chevy might be releasing something like the new GTO, but upon further inspection, I've heard that the SS model will only have a 205 hp engine? While it is a small car, I think that 205 hp is fairly insulting to a GTO competitor and the SS name. I'm hoping that someone will whip out a 0-60 or some torque mss., but for now, I'm fairly disappointed in this vehicle. It does leave all the more room for aftermarket tuning and upgrading, though...

Anyone else heard something?

It basically is a Cavy a bit tweaked.....but ANYTHING is better than the last Cavy......in the Chevy line that is.......

I did not mean tweaked engine wise, I meant more the body is tweaked.....I like the bodystyle better than the last malformation.....

The body is nice. But if I can remember correctly. It seemed to have tail lights like the Vette. . . Also, it looks like the Cavi is on the outs if the Cobalt does good.

It does have Corvette'ish tail lights....but they are not too bad looking......IMHO.

I agree... most of Gm's newer commercials are kind of cheezy IMO... I mean, a bunch of their cars just driving past each other doesnt quite inspire me, as a consumer, to go out and buy one lol. I used to think the same with ford too, but since they launched their "the one" campaign, they've had some awesome commercials.

I dig the "if you build it" one.... awesome

edit: back on topic, the cobalt doesnt look bad at all

. I'd rock one as a daily. better than the cavalier

It kinda reminds you of the vette.....but the way they are set in and the overall shape of the openings are Vette'ish.......and the outer two sorta look egg shaped'ish too.....here is a better rear pic.....

GM is doing the comparing. Everyone who buys a Cobalt. Will think they can line up with a Vette. I would bet you on it! Also, how do you think the Vette guys are feeling. Having there beloved car compared to a compact with 145 hp! That has to hurt!

They ARE making a Cobalt SS with 205 HP....now I know that does not compare with 400 out of the box....but not bad for a compact car from the factory....

205 seems nice. Since the weight of the car can't be past 3500 lbs. So, it should make some good numbers. But still, we are talking about the base model against the Vette. . .

It is ugly, but its what sport compact guys like. I guess. . .

No...that car that is in the picture is the SS, so it does have more than 150HP......nice try though......ease off on the rice comments!

Its just like the mid-eighties to mid-ninties cavaliers. they try to put "big" output in a fairly tiny car, but it isn't meant to take on the corvette. Chevy is trying to attract younger buyers who might have considered neons, civics, or corollas. nothing more.

That thing is FUGLY.... Anything with a rear spoiler and less than 200 HP is RICE...
REMEMBER THAT THREAD!!! LOL Why they have this thing in the same shot as a Vette is disgusting... If I owned a Vette I'd be calling GM daily to take that commercial off air.

It doesn't matter about hp. A spoiler is for high speeds. To keep the wheels planted. . . I don't see why you would want the weight of it on such a car. The Vette doesn't need a spoiler. . .

True......but what would get the kids in faster but a bench seat on the rear of a car??? I think the car is nice.......a bit on the ricey side.....but not bad considering.

That thing on the truck can fly them anywhere they would want to go. What a deal, 10k for an airplane! Also, having a bench seat on the back, is great for school football games!

They left it on there truck. (Not knowing) They were taking corners all fast. And was, damn! My car handles like a Vette. Checks the rear view and is like, damn! I forgott about my bench. Damn, im gonna screw (not bolt) that muther on the trunk!
