Just wanted to start this thread so that we can all relate to each other about a day that needs to not be forgotten. Basically, where were you and what were you doing 6 years ago?

I remember walking my dog in the park across the street from my parent's house. It was the first day that year I saw my breath and I thought to myself that I would try to remember that. I will never forget about seeing my breath that day.
I was in the 9th grade, and my brother was driving me to school and I heard on the radio that a plane had crashed into the world trade center. I heard it from "wacky" morning dj's and thought it was a joke. Got to school and confirmed that it was not a joke. My first period teacher, Mr. Mimms, allowed us to watch, we didn't do anything in that class that day. I didn't have another teacher that would let us watch until 7th period.

Moment of silence for those fallen...

I was sitting on my couch watching TV while talking to a buddy on the phone. It took me a couple of minutes for the carnage to register on me. I remember slowly realizing what I was seeing on the screen as the network replayed the scene over and over. I told him, "TURN ON THE TV NOW!"

We spent the next hour speculating what could have been the reason for the attack.

I was in 6th grade, I was walking in the hall way and heard alot of noise. I asked my buddy what was going on and he said they bombed the pentagon or something. The 1st thought that ran through my head was "They cant do that its impossible." The school did not allow the teachers to turn on the tv, but my math teacher told all of us what happened. I was in such a state of shock. It didn't really hit me until I was bck home watchin tv with my family. Then I cried

When I heard, and saw it, I was at work, we heard it on the radio, and then turned on a small tv in the kids waiting room. We watched in horror, as the whole thing played out. As I am on the west coast, this was pretty early in the morning.
My wife was in Salt Lake City, visiting her sister, and I imediately wondered if I would see her within the next few days. She was supposed to return that day, to Sea-Tac airport...that didnt happen until Friday, and only because she got lucky, when someone else cancelled.
My boys were young, 6, and 9. They were very afraid, and not for our country, but for their mom!
What I really remember is one year later, we were at Disney Land, in LA, and they shut the entire park down for 20 minutes. When President Bush spoke, you could hear a pin drop, it was awesome.
We found a shady spot by the entrance to the riverboat ride, and enjoyed the commeraderie with a host of fellow Americans, an idylic view of the "river",(Americana, at its best), and good conversation with perfect strangers.

I was just finishing the third shift on my job, As I walked out of my building
I noticed smoke coming from the top of the towers, (our treailer company was in north bergen, N.J and we can see the towers from our lot) So I went back in and told the other guys that there was a fire in one of the towers, I thought it was coming from the restaurant " windows of the world" at the top of the tower. Then someone said a small plane hit the tower. It wasn't until I was on my way home when all the information came out. Then when I got home that's when the towers started to fall
