weird problem

So i was driving to New Hampshire on friday and the mark started acting up.... i was in stop and go traffic, and at first i noticed it was hesitating when i first hit the gas. It would sort of not go forward, the rpm would actually drop, then the car would stumble and start accelerating. As i sat in traffic, it got worst and worst. The whole time however, it was idling perfectly smooth. I put it in neutral and tried to just rev and and it wouldnt go past about 3k and just stumbled, even at full throttle. It got so bad that i had to creep off the highway with my foot barely on the gas and the car violently shaking. Went to a gas station and popped the hood half expecting to see the airtube torn off or something, but everything looked fine. Started it back up after like 5 mins and it ran perfect. Drove another 2 hours to NH then drove the car back here to CT on sunday without a single problem. For the record, while all of this was happening it was not raining, and it never threw a code. Any ideas??

could be your IAC valve acting stupid! or maybe your MAF sensor!

I had similar problems, and found out it was my TPS. but if it is your IAC spray fome fuel inj cleaner down there to free up the gunk, you dont want to replace it, it sucks to get to, I knew mine was bad but I waited for my transmission to go before I did it.
