regaurding the cruise controll deactivation swith recall

My friend called a local ford dealer and set up an appointment. He asked them if the actuall part was in and they replied yes! He took the Mark in today, sat around for 2 hours and only then did they tell him that they disabled the cruise controll but didn't have the updated harness!!!! A bunch of liars, why not just be up front and tell the customer that the parts are not in yet?

I looked at what they did. The idiot simply unpluged the connector and attempeted to stick a piece of tape over the contacts which fell off! they just left it hanging. 2 HOURS!!!!! GEESHHH!!!!

BTW you don't need to remove the inner fender cover. You can easily access the switch from underneath the passengers front where the inner fender cover meets the bumper cover. Just look straight up and there it is.

After seeing this crap I will NOT be taking my Mark to ford and will simply make my own fused connector. My friend also told me that he wouldn't dare go back to that half assed dealership located here in Las Vegas at Decatur & the 95 freeway!!!!!! Bunch of jokers and full of BS!

How about making a jumper? As I understand it, the pressure switch is a secondary device to open the cruise control circuit in the event the brake switch failed. This would be defeating the Factory design for added safety though.

I had the same thing done, they unplugged and taped up the connector, took the guy ten minutes. The inner fender doesn't have to come off.

So we have to wait until winter before they can do it right?

yes.

whoever he talked to was uninformed. the parts are NOT in. the connectors are different than the trucks so the harness thats already out wont work. what he did was the interim repair so if the switch started leaking the car wont catch on fire.

im unplugging mine since i never use cruise control (plus....ill never complain about ford paying me .2 for nothing)

Yes, That sucks.....My recall letter said,"The Parts will be in ,In the 4th quater of 2007".....To me I thought "Not to bad, Thats Oct to Dec". But when I called the dealer( 7 to be exact,5 Ford and 2 Lincoln) They told me to call and make an appointment the beginning of Dec. So I figure that would mean I'll get it done some time in Jan.08...MAYBE!!!

Is the harness just going to plug in between the switch and the origional connector? If that is the case I will either make one myself or hopefully the dealer will just give me one if I raise a stink. I really don't want there hands on my car.

That is correct rich. If they inspect the switch, and there is no evidence of leakage, they will just connect the new fused harness in between the stock harness and switch. IF there is leakage, they will replace the switch. I'm not sure if they install the new fused harness with the replacement switch or not. I can't remember.
