How often are you supposed to change the air filter?

How often is one supposed to change the air filter on a 99 Eldorado? I changed mine about 5000 miles ago, conditions are not too dusty.

Also, what about the cabin air filter? My Eldo has 68 k miles, I doubt the previous owners ever changed them...

As a rule of thumb, I change my air filter on all my cars, every other oil change. Makes it EZ for me to remember.

When it gets dirty. Don't waste money changing regardless of being dirty or not. Inspect it every so often and replace as needed.
