My dad wants to buy me a new car before I head off to Mcmaster University (in Canada). I have worked for 3 years at an Exotic Pet store, so I will help him pay. I'm looking for a RWD V8, fully loaded with leather seats, durable, safe car, for under 15 grand. Anything slightly above 15 grand is acceptable, I was planning to haggle in the first place.
People ask me why I am looking for such gas guzzlers. They tell me too buy a Japanese car, something more fuel efficient and "young". I ignored them, since we have a spare propane tank that I would like to install. And "young" seems to dangerous. There are 3 propane tank stations in all of Hamilton, and I am fortunate enough to find one close to my residence.
The cars I have been looking into are mostly lincolns, but there is a bit of variety.
Heres the list;
Lincoln Town Car 1997-2002 Executive
Lincoln LS V8 2000-2002
Lincoln Mark 8 1997
Mercury Grand Marquis 2003
Mercury Marauder 2003
Ford Crown Victoria 2001-2005
Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor 2003
I have found great deals, like a ford crown victoria 2005 for $7500 in a dealership in Toronto.
I don't have any preferable colours....well I do. Black. But colour doesn't matter since I will the car will be getting the car a paint job. (I'll take advantage of this $200 coupon).

You should be able to get an 04+ LS for under $15K easily IMO.

personally i would stay away from an LS, i owe one, has been nothing but a headeache, sure you can say all cars have their problems, but do a search for "linconl LS problems" on google, andy ou will find plenty of reasons not to buy one.

If it was me, Id go with a Mercury Marauder. You might be able to find one for 15k, theres a few around me for $16k.
Any of the panthers (Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, Town Car, Marauder) will probably be rock solid. They are some of the most reliable and durable cars ever made. If your looking for speed, they arent as fast as the LS and Mark VIII. But for less than 11k you could buy a crown vic or Marquis and supercharge it.
If you want serious luxury, a car you can live in, get a town car.
The LS is the best looking of the bunch, but as I understand it they arent particularly reliable. You would have to set aside some money for likely repairs.
The Mark VIII is a very rewarding car, and I love mine, but theres a good chance that any you find will need some sort of suspension work. Many need new air-struts, mine needed new lower control arms, tie rods, and bushings. Once thats done though, they are awesome to drive and by far the best bang for your buck.

Crown Vic seems to be a great all rounder. Reliable, durable, big, spacious, safe, cheap to fix, plentiful parts etc. Plus, you could get a plain black or white one, stick some bumper bars on it and maybe some flashy blue lights behind the grille... No hassles from other road users! Lol.
