failure to launch

hey guys, here's one for you. I've noticed if i put my foot on the floor in my mark off the start it shifts into OD by 35 miles an hour, but if i lift my foot maybe to 80% throttle it shifts back down and launches. I turnes off traction control button thinking that was it. Same results with button off. I know there better in the higher Rpm ranges but why is it upshifting so fast. Its hard to race people at lights when u can't just mash it. playing with the throttle takes too long in that situation. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this.

??? Did you disengage the OD??? (button on shifter)

OD is engaged in 3rd and 4th.

that would be the torque converter clutch. OD IS 4th gear.

TCC is not supposed to lock at WOT anyways.

I've had the same problem, i routinely get smoked off the line by my buddys' bmw 3 series and a 1st gen rx-7, but after playing around with the throttle its a LITTLE better, still dont catch em until at least 50-60 mph, then its over
