Tire size question

I have an 05 LSE and its time for new tires. How big can I go on the stock 17rims? How wide are the stock rims?

So I can do a 255 on a 7 1/2 in rim? Seems like they might hang over too much?

On all of the tire comparison web sites, "they" say the minimum wheel size for the 255/45-17's, is 8" wide. So, maybe a little research before purchasing? I will bet there is a tire place that will mount them though....

I run 255/45 on my 17's. This is my third LS since 2000 when they first came out. I ran 255/45 on each one of them w/ no problems. trust me.

BTW, what brand, and style tire do you like best on your LS?

best I used yet are Kuhmo Ectsa ASX, they last long and are pretty good for performance and price.
