First off, normal sized plain black letters are fine.
Second, Need some details on the year, engine, and any other symptoms besides the charge light. Any other lights on? Slow cranking?
Third, no we don't really know what it is, we can only make an informed guess. Sorry, thats how the internet works.
But, yes, a charging system light is a big problem, and it could be either the battery or alternator, or it could be the wiring between the two. You never really know. Most auto parts stores will perform free charging system checks. Just take it to an Advance or Autozone or preferably (IMO) Napa and ask.

put a voltmeter across the battery posts, if its any lower than high 13v the alt isn't charging, check the big cable at the alt for power, i could shoot up a wiring sys diagram if i knew what year your ls was..........
p.s. 99.9% of the time if your batt light is on its the alt or wiring NOT the batt
