2000 vs. 2001 vs. 2002, and carfax

Hey guys,

I've been lurking on this forum for the past few weeks, and you seem to be a very supportive group.
I've loved the look of the LS since they came out; and now I'm ready to get one.

I'm looking at the first gens, and I had a quick question.

Besides the valve cover gasket issue, is there any major reasons why any of you would purchase a 2001 over a 2000? 2002 over a 2000?

Also, if someone could please run 2 vin's for me on carfax, that would be of great help.

I'm hoping this all works out, and within the month I'll be driving an LS!

Thanks guys!

PS: I'm the owner of an 87 Mustang GT 302 convertible, and have been having fun with her for a few years...
It's time to replace my escort daily driver and step into some class!

Nothing huh?
Either the year vs. year thing or carfax?

In my opinion go with the newest car that you can afford. I bought a 2002 LSE (just because I think it's one of the best looking LS's IMO) with 40k on the clock and have been driving it for more than a year now with no problems at all. I bought an extended Ford bumper to bumper warranty when I bought the car that covers me to 2010 or 100k whichever comes first and I would suggest you do the same if you buy an LS, no matter what year you get, anything that breaks will cost a pretty penny on a Lincoln.

In the end, do what makes you feel good, and buy the car you like and will enjoy driving for a long time. They are awesome cars, I like mine almost as much as I like the wifes MB C32.

Thanks for the reply...
How does the bumper to bumper thing work, can you apply if you buy the car from a private party? What does it entail, and what's the cost?

Carfax anyone?

I bought my car at a Ford stealership but when I was looking at another LS that was for sale through a private owner, I called the local Lincoln dealer to ask about the extended warranty and they told me as long as it passed the CPO inspection it was OK.

The warranty I have is a continuation of the factory bumper to bumper warranty. I think the total cost was about $2500 but it is well worth it. As soon as a coil goes bad, and they will go bad, the warranty will almost pay for itself. And if I decide to get rid of the car its transferable to the next owner, which is a good selling point.

Like I said, get what makes you happy.
