hood won't stay latched

I have a 2000 LS and recently after opening the hood, I haven't been able to get it to stay latched. I ordered a new latch to solve the problem, but it didn't. Any ideas what else might need fixing?

If a new latch didn't solve the problem, I'd guess it's in the cable. It may be kinked or stretched, and won't allow the latch to fully close.

Did you try adjusting it up a little?

I know the cable is not broke. Is there any way of fixing it if it is stretched, without replacing it. The release handle seems looser than usual

take a look at the release handle inside the cabin.

if your latch is being held open - the cable in not stretched - that would mean you couldn't open it....

likely the release is not returning all the way so it's holding your latch open.

what exactly am I looking for? it looks and feels like it goes all the way back, however as I stated before it feels loose. And, I barely have to touch it and it releases the hood.

there is a tension spring that holds the pull in place, when you remove the pull - it's easy to re-mount it with the spring not properly seated.

if you remove the pull (couple of bolts) you'll see the tension spring, and how it is suppose to hold the pull tight and up.

fixed, thanks
