Power Steering Fluids

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: psungee

The manual for my '02 Continental recommends an ATF fluid for steering (which will need topping 'til repaired). I swung my my local mechanic who said, "ATF? No! Use power steering fluid. ATF will only make anything worse." Well, I knew when I bought it that I would have to repair a leak in the power steering but now I don't know which fluid to use. Any authoritative counsel someone may be able to offer?

I once listened to a local mechanic, cost me the whole rear end in my truck.
