Has anyone seen this LS before?

What do some of you think? The tires look weird but I like them, the fenders and lip should be sculpted together but over all I think Im so so on its looks.

Posted by: Eliot_Ness_Ls

If you look close I think it has a roll bar..LOL

Posted by: Quik LS

Yes - he was trying to be a grand-am cup racer - never panned out - but he did get onto the SEMA floor...

Thanks quick, the links not working tho I ll try it later. That is cool that he was actually trying that even tho he didnt get all the way.

Posted by: gt95coupe

I kinda like the fender "flares" they would look better molded though. It would give a whole lot more options for wheel offsets as well

Posted by: Eliot_Ness_Ls

Yes it would, I actually like the car all together but I think it should all be sculpted in.

Im not a fan of the eyelids either but I like em on this one.

Posted by: owlman

It looks sleepy with those eyebrows

Posted by: Eliot_Ness_Ls

HAHA..I agree kinda like its allways tired and slow....maybe stoned..LOL

I would love eyebrows if there was a way to get rid of the lines.

Posted by: Eliot_Ness_Ls

I wonder how those fenders would look with the evo 6 kit I like so much?

Any suggestions?

Edit: Hey quick I got that link to work now, that sema showcase is Damn nice!!! I didnt notice that wing tho its disgusting. I would like to style my LS aong those lines but I wanna put this kit on it and leave the INT. alone.
Those wheels and tires look good to even tho the racey type arent my style.

Posted by: glanga

that wing is unbeleiveably stupid looking though

Posted by: Quik LS

as said in the other thread - it is standard for the grand-am cup cars - they all have them and need them.....

Posted by: glanga

i guess but if i saw that on the street id laugh my ass off whether that is fast or not

Posted by: Quik LS

grand-am cup cars > you laughing

Posted by: Eliot_Ness_Ls

guess its not an official grand am cup car then??

Posted by: Quik LS

at least he tried.

he > whatever makes you laugh at a race car....

Posted by: KD00LS

Did we ever figure out where he got those fender trimmings, I kinda like them.

Posted by: glanga

i dont get how you call that a race car? your car is a race car not that you went all out and went the extra mile to make your car extremely unique into a real sports luxury car and you probably spent less than him(why dont you put a wing like that on your car?). most of the stuff on that car is cosmetic. I wouldn't try and do that. for all the money he spent on all of the cosmetic stuff on that car i could've bought a near race ready grand am car that would actually "pan out" i have seen plenty of RWD cup cars that dont have wings nearly that gaudy or huge and get the job done fine if not better than putting a wing that large on.
i know all this was argued in another thread, its just my personal opinion, but the mods and weight reduc he did do not outweigh the price that was obviously paid to make the car more show than go. i would laugh if i ever did see him at a track because i know my V would blow his doors off even after all the money that was dumped into making that car.

Posted by: glanga

whatever i know this is stupid, my point is that car is more show than go, it does look nice but unless its actually raced....

Posted by: DarkMansLSEV8

I dont like it, I think the wheels stick out to much, it looks like something a mexican would do, no disrespect.

I would agree that the track/offset was a little much on this car as I also stood in front of it at SEMA, but all bad mouthing wings aside, this car very much looked the business. In defense of Mr.Gerstengerger's machine, good work dude. Aerodynamics to make a machine perform more effectively doesn't need defending, they've been doing it for a long time and that wing looks like loads of them used on touring cars and 'even' like the one offered on a package used on the McLaren F1. You can call it ricer if you like but I serious doubt Gordon Murray put anything on that car that was just for looks. That wing only gets all this heated venting because so many asian junkers use them to seek notariety and it's thus related to the vehicle it's seen on. Doesn't make the wing junk, just means everyone has jumped on an anti-ricer bandwagon. As for comments about them only being effective on a RWD car that's inaccurate as well......maybe they're 'more' effective on RWD but I have a '99 WRC wing on my SVT Focus (since the WRC team was so kind to develop it to make the car perform for them and ......us) and the stability it adds I can feel. Downforce equates to better grip, and my loss is only 5 mph of Top end. I use handling about 1000% more often than I use Top End. And yes, I get the rear end loose on my fwd car when REALLY enjoying the twisties.....less often though with the wing.

I suppose of course, in the world where wings are developed, comments from a wingless second place car could be made about how ugly the 1st place car with the wing is, but........I'm not sure it would matter much.

Posted by: Eliot_Ness_Ls

I think the wheels look tuff, the wing did have a purpose Galanga. Read the whole thread, it might look bad but I think it does more justice than dryer vent tubes. No offense.

Posted by: eastcoastLS

All wings are ugly.

Elliot Ness, I understand that. My LS is a project car that I mess around on just not to degree of that LS-R. I dont intend to nor do i ever intend to race it. That man did intend to. And while yes it is a fully functional race car, I dont consider it a race car unless it actually races. I consider Quik's LS a fully functional race car. A lot of hard work went into that LS-R I can obviously see that but for what reason? To show it at SEMA? As far as im concerned it is a SHOW car since all hes done is show it and not race it. Same for any other car. I considered the Acura American Le Mans cars only pieces of engineering and showmanship until they were actually raced this year. That car is also missing other pieces of equipment needed to race in any Grand Am Series. I don't care if someone sends their Viper to Hennessey and puts 1000HP in it, unless they race it, its a show car to me.

As far as dryer tubes go....I dont feel the need to upgrade the hell out of LS and I'm willing to make the best of what I have since we are limited as a whole. And especially with gas prices every little bit helps. I'm by no means a penny pincher but I'm willing squeeze every little ounce for my buck out a car.

I also take my V to tracks like Summit Point and Watkins Glen and participate in the BMW CCA. I dont by any means consider it a race car but it's more than capable of handling the track without all of the stuff put into that LS-R. The safety equipment like roll bars and such I can appreciate and the body styling is amazing on it. And if they put a manual transmission in it then thats even more amazing. But if your going to race grand am you better spend the same if not more on your engine than you do on fancy graphics and body styling.

Too each his own.....
