So i finaly put in my polished aluminum tube today to finish my CAI and i go to start my car, give it a lil rev and nothing different, but didn't think much so i go out for a drive and i know it's not going ot make a world of difference but absolutly no difference in throttle response, no better acceleration, no difference in the sound made. Anyone else have this ordeal?

Posted by: monnieh

Wow, really? No improved throttle response at all?

Posted by: Quik LS

nope - it was one of the most noticable first mods I did.

Posted by: St. Lou-LS

Nothing at all. And what kind of sound am i supposed to be getting out of it? Maybe i just need one of those superchargers lol

Posted by: 02V8Sport

disconnect your battery over night and let the computer re-learn the increased CAI airflow coming through. may help.

Posted by: NickT88LSC

What year is your car?? My 02 made a big diff, esp. sound, you cant miss that.

You will definately notice a difference in the sound once you get your engine up in the 4-5k range.

Let's see some pictures!

Adding JUST the tube will not yield a substantial amount of difference in HP. However, couple that with the KKM intake kit the combined HP increase should be around 8-12 HP depending on your car and conditions.

Yeah! Did you add the open element cone filter to the end of the intake tube, or are you still using the stock air box? It's the open, freer flowing filter that gives you the sound and added HP. Much more that just the tube by it's self.

8-12 hp isn't something that is that noticeable...

You could notice gains in mpgs... gains may go up 2 to 3 mpgs which is significant.

Yes, i have the KKM cone as well, and i have noticed a slight increase in gas millage on my '02 but i will post some pictures of it asap.

Posted by: CJones16

wow thats disapointing, isnt that tube like 300 bucks?, too bad u dont hear that woo (superchargerish) sound when taken off..

Posted by: St. Lou-LS

The first one is of the tube that was giving me trouble, i ended up having to shave down the plastic along with some if the inside of the tube itself just to make it fit

Posted by: Fla02LS

I swear everytime i see a picture of those intakes i think to myself they are the longest most ridiculous intake i have ever seen on a car. Thank god i have a 2nd gen.

So what else should i do for a increase in performace? I like the magneflow but i lean more to the side of luxury with my car, is that goin to make it loud?

Posted by: Beamer

When I did the filter it was a slight difference than we I got the tube OMG! The sound was an orgasm on 4 wheels and the response was great and felt like a great improvement. I noticed after awhile it was not as quick but I guess that was from the heat, but it still got up nicely. Turned alot of heads too.

The MagnaFlow is a nice system. Not loud at all normal driving, just a little noise. WOT its louder but I still consider it pretty quiet.

Those damn Magnaflows suck, the sound is low and annoying when cruiseing, pluss the automatic trans shifting around and the throttle makes it sound like ass at that low of a tone. You end up with that annoying brrrr...!BRRRR!..brrr type sound. It sounds good in select shift tho but that will guzzle gas on up fast.

As for the CAI try a different filter I got a blitz filter and that is sick! Its got a heat shield around the filter and adds some shine under the hood when its polished well. Pluss, I dont know about the area you live in but a guy at a customes shop around here can make them with better design for around 100 bucks if its not a big pain in the ass, I cant see this beeing tuff to make at all as I seen some tubes look like a Rat maze.

One thing is that I had to get a new addapter made by a friend that was a bit longer, I had trouble fitting every filter I went with except the one it came with. IMO that one sucks.

My MagnaFlow doesn't drone at all...not sure why yours does. My only complaint about the MagnaFlow is it is a 2.25" system, that doesn't bother me but they advertise it as a 2.5" system.

I'm very pleased with my intake also.

Mine doesn't drone either. I have a mid Magnaflow 2 in/2 out, and then two Magnaflows out back. Not loud, desn't sound like ass, just has a nice tone to it that turns heads all the time. And it's NOT the Magnaflow cat back. All custom done in 2.5".

Posted by: Eliot_Ness_Ls

To each their own, but 1 point that I must make. Why do the intake as loud as its gunna be, but worry about the exhaust. My intake over powers the sound of my exhaust.

I agree.

I would think all of that metal would suck up even more heat and defeat the cold part of the air induction.

Posted by: NickLS
