Engine Temp is wack.....help

ok guys....this is probably a stupid question...but where do i put engine coolent? i recently got my radiator flushed and oil changed like....3 weeks ago, i havnt drove much....and recently my temp has been crazy, up and down all the time, im scared maybe there is no coolent in the car or that i need to reset the engine coolent sign and my temp guage is broken maybe??

anyways im scared to drive it, help lol...

You have an air pocket in the cooling system. You have to start the car and fill from the crossover tube (black pipe above your alternator) It will take many times to "burp" the system but i am almost positive that this is your problem.

ok so we figured out where the coolant goes, and when we found it, the bolts had never been opened since we got the car, it hasnt been driven much as is. so they flushed the radiator at mr lube, but never refilled my coolant, no wonder my car was overheating when i left there and kept getting the low engine coolant sign. i just thought it had to be reset but even after i reset it came back.....so basically because of mr lubes

up, i almost blew my motor....im gonna go them a piece of my mind and get my money back since they almost broke my freaking car.....what an absolute stupid noob mistake.

What they probably did was filled it at the reservoir where most places will fill the coolant. The flush probably left the air pocket.

You have to also rock the car to help burp the coolant.

Also why did you take your car to Mr. Lube? I take it this is a typical chain quick lube place.... You know they hire the best mechanics to work there.

it was after class, i had to get a quick oil change done....they kept telling me oh ur oil is black....im like yea thats the color its supposed to be idiot.....just change it, and their like would u like us to flush ur radiator? im like huh.....sure, just make it quick!....this took 30minutes and im very impatient when it comes to these things....i got worst service, got ripped off and now i want my money back or im gonna rob the place lol....pretty straight forward.

NOBODY touches my cars until I have given up or cannot do the work (and that hasn't happend in years)-
I had a tire store mount and balance my summer tires today (no Coates 20-20 machine) on my Jeep TJ, and even though I could have sat in the air conditioned waiting room watching 'I Love Lucy', I stood outside the bay in 95 degree, humid weather watching the 'mechanic' mount, balance, remove and install tires-
he at one point said to me, 'do you take these off and on alot'? I said the last time off was Feburary, when I did front and back brakes for inspection, and I asked 'why'? He said that, 'maybe some studs might be 'cross-threaded'! I said to him, 'Well, it's a real good idea to hand-start lugs before you hit them with a gun'- duh...it is a matter of record, and I watched him. so when I have a problem, I will make it an issue.
But, why let anyone do what you can do? If I'm not doing the work, I'm paying, so I'm gonna pay attention-lucky it didn't cost you more than anxious moments, an all aluminum engine is very unhappy at high temps.
Give them hell, embarass them, consider it a lesson learned. Just reinforces what I know-nobody is gonna care as much as you, try to do it yourself-it's your ride.

I've had to burp my cobra motor about 4 times since the swap and this process has worked every time without fail and doesnt take long.

Open reservoir cap.
Open crossover tube.
Fill at crossover tube until the level in the reservoir is where it should be.
Squeeze coolant lines a few times to move fluid/air around and expel any air that might be there. The more you do this the air you get out of the system
Place cap back on reservoir.
Continue filling @ crossover tube until full.
Once again, squeeze lines to expell hidden air.
Tighten crossover tube cap.

Get car up to operating temperature (idle is fine).
Let car cool... COMPLETELY... (overnight in this weather)
Fill at crossover tube again.

It's not uncommon for the car to "burp" a bit after the first fill.
