cup holder removal?

On a Gen 1 how do you remove the cup holder and ashtray? The center console has to come up?

I just removed my cup holder and ashtray in my '95 to clean it out good. I just bought the car and they had kids. Anyway, I had to remove the center console by removing the screws in the bottom of the center compartment and then pulled off the trim around the shifter. This exposes the screws under the climate control that secure the center console in the front. I do not remember if I had to remove the trim piece around the radio to get to those screws. Anyway, remove the electrical connections and the whole console pulls right up. Then from underneath it you can get to the screws that hold on the ashtray and cup holder.

i guess mine were removed before.. because all i have to do is just tug on them lightly and they pop out.. someone must have been too lazy to put the screws back in.. ( not saying i would have either )

Done... Whata PITA that was. Still have to put it all back together.
