Harman/Kardon Drive+Play

So I recently bought one of these nifty little interfaces and a PIE aux input for my '02 LS and have installed everything and it works great.

One thing I was considering, which could be somewhat difficult so I'm looking for feedback on it, is to take the controller apart and somehow integrate it in to my shift knob (auto tranny).

Any comments or feedback on if this would even be possible? I havent taken the controller apart just yet so I'm not sure how much electronics are actually in it.

The shift stalk is solid so the wires would be visible.
