Questions about the LS8

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello all i am new here and would like a little info about mods to an 03 LS8.

1. Can i get about 300 bhp with some normal mods such as a true cold air intake, cat back and the x-cal?
2. How much boost can the bottom end on a 3.9 take?
3. Has anyone made 300 RWHP for one with a few more mods?
i am sure i will have more questions at time goes on,but i have not gotten my LS yet.

Magnaflow is "supposed" to be coming out with a catback system for the 03 up LS but as of yet has failed to do so.

K&N FIPK is rated by K&N for a 15.69HP increase at the wheels. X-cal2 is supposed to be good for somewhere in the ball park of 10-20HP depending on the tune. So given that you're over 300BHP.

Boost... VERY minimal, and given the inefficiency of our drive-line, 300HP at the wheels is close to 380-390 at the crank; seriously pushing the limit on a non-forged rotating assembly. Quik is a bit more versed in the application of boost to the 3.9L as he's one of like 3 people in the world running forced induction on that engine. Take a look at his thread in the other LS forum; it's a "sticky" thread at the top with like 24 million pages.

we are running 10.55:1 compression - so.... small boost is likey all we can do.

the N2O guys are running 100shots so that's the benchmark.

We need someone to push past the breaking point so we know where it is... just not me

As Frogman state - no sense repeating it all here - many threads on this.
