2000 continental has ticking noise in engine

My continental has always had a slight tick in the engine on the passenger side. I always believed this to be normal. Now when I first start the car in the morning there is a noticable loud tick on the passenger side that goes away to the normal slight tick as the car warms up? It doesn't seem to be oming from the sides of the engine where the exhaust manifolds are. It seems to come somewhere around the alternator area and intake. Some mechanic without looking at it mentioned a possible stickey lifter. Do these DHOC engines have lifters that can possibly beome sticky. I did recenty change the oil which was black. Any idesas,
Thank you
Tony
