Ya know by the looks of the pics "I have not had one on my floor" it looks like they have about a 1.5" lip or so...Conservative but nice none the less...

Once they arrive I can elaborate more and take pictures etc...

How would 245/50/18 tires fit on these 18x9 wheels or should I go for 245/40/18? They don't make them in a 45 series...

I think the 245-45-18 is the best fit...The 255-45-18 is also a nice fit. Both of these are somewhat common sizes as well so they are not tough to locate and you have many choices among brands.

Another option is 275-40-18 rears and 245-45-18 fronts...This has worked well for the guys that want that fat rear tire.

So...Those IMO are the best tire options with regard to size.

You are a good example of why I put in quotations "Actual wheel is 5-4.25" in bold letters. I don't have a 5-hole wheel pic otherwise I would have put it up.

Brad

see i did notice that. but i did not know what the hell it meant. it is too early...lmao

Ok,quick question, besides Centerline, does anyone else out there sell the "Blank" wheels, the kind with no pattern or design,I want one with a nice lip on them. I have looked around but was wondering if anyone on here had some.

I dunno how your brakes would like the solid centers. Don't they get a lil more fresh air if there are spokes as apposed to solid?? Seems to make sense. Anyways, I don't know of anything available other than the Smooth wheel Centerline makes.

Here is a Monster Lip though...Had these wheels done up custom for the MarkVIII/Tbird/Cougar

Damn those are nice, those would look good on a Mark. How much Does that wheel cost?

Posted by: midwestbird

All of the 9" wide wheels are +36MM posative offset...Its a perfect fit regardless of some old posts out there. Gaurenteed to fit with no spacers or grinding etc...

No action in this thread for awhile. I have some news to report though.

I have an announcment to make with regard to the FR500 wheel production.

Before I press on and mention anything else I want to make this perfectly clear for anyone involved or concerned. The following statement is of 100% FACT and anything reflecting otherwise that is rumoring about is 100% rumor/You know what...."I will never understand the whole rumor thing"...heh...Takes all kinds I guess.

So anyways....Here is the skinny on the FR500 wheel production. If you care at all I guess you have read this far.

I got a call from the Caster saying that they were having problems getting a good solid structure and that they were working on a possible solution. Something about the cast leaking around the lug area of the tooling. Well I just got word a few days ago that there is no fix for the issue and that they will be unable to cast that particular wheel with our (5-4.25/108MM) bolt pattern. It is a safety/liability issue and one I am glad to have been found during production as appossed to later on. So really is pretty plain and simple.

The other wheel options are being done and are expected to be on the boat by this weekend. This is what I am TOLD...So if there is any accuracy to this, it means I should be seeing these things in the next few weeks. SHOULD....

If anyone has pre-payed for a set of these FR500 wheels please contact the shop if we have not already contacted YOU...You can get a full refund or put your money toward something else. Its totally up to you. We are very sorry for any inconvieniance this has caused for anyone involved.

Regards,

Brad

That's too bad, I would have loved to get those FR500 wheels in the Mark VIII bolt pattern.

Posted by: lscmkviii

Thanks for the update Brad!! I cant wait to get my wheels!

Hey Brad, how much do the silver Saleen wheels weigh compared to the Chrome? And The Cobra R's?

18X9 one piece cast wheels weigh approx. 26-27lbs in chrome. Painted wheels are going to be really close to that. The chrome finish would be a bit heavier I suppose by less than a pound IMO...

Brad

Posted by: 98LSC32V

Can you get the Saleen wheels silver in 17x9?

We have a cast for that size but I chose the 18X9 because of the better tire choices available for our cars among other reasons. There is only a 1lb weight saving with a 17X9 cast wheel anyways. Tire weight fluctuates more than that in the same sizes by a long shot.

Well its almost AUGUST and I FINALLY have the wheels on my shop floor ready to ship.

18X9 Cobra R's in Silver paint & Chrome
18X9 Speed Stars in Chrome

The Silver painted Speed Stars might end up arriving in a few months. I pretty much gave up on them arriving this season so told them to just get them hear and not to bother me about them until they hit the customs dept.

Thanks

Brad

Posted by: baggedtaco

I was sure I had posted an update over here...Guess not though...

Anyways, the wheels finally showed up. Got the CobraR's in chrome, paint, & some chrome Speedstars, but no silver speedstars. Anyways, I expect the rest of the wheels in a few months if all goes well.

Check out the Cobra R' color that showed up though. I like it...But it is definatley not silver.

18X9 Gun Metal Greyish finish
5-4.25 bolt pattern
+36MM offset

Brad

Posted by: 98LSC32V
