Well..it's not opening from the inside and it does not look cool reaching out to the outside handle to open the door . I can see there is a little small piece broken inside the handle, not sure if it's plastic/metal but can someone please let me know if they have had this problem and how much I should expect to pay? Is there an alternative route to fixing this myself?

Real common problem. Mines been like that for a year now. You have to replace just the chrome handle. If you want an easier way to open it rather than rolling the window down, just use your thumb and push the actual lock back. If you watch how the door opens you will see what im talking about.

This happened to me when a Valet and I tried to open the drivers door at the same time. Apparently it was tooooo much for the assembly to take. Repair was done under warranty.

I believe that those parts are for the interior handle and latch assembly..........Thats what the RO states. My LS is an 02 V8 Sport. Hope this helps.

Happened to me a year or so ago. The worse part is getting those 1/4" rivets out. Then you'll need a monster rivet tool to reinstall new rivets. Others have used bolts and nuts to reinstall the handle. The handle isn't all that expensive. I would imagine the dealer would charge an hours labor to do it.

One of the many upgrades in 2003 was the addition of a damper in the door handle to prevent it from smacking back and breaking. Looks like you're either fixing it yourself or off to the dealer.

this is one of the many reasons that I always wash my own car...
weather has been really bad here and I went and let a shop wash my car...
only to get home and realize the door wouldnt open..the shop was closed by the time that I got home so I couldnt go back...paid in cash and threw the receipt away...so basically you know they said they have no record of me ever coming there to get my car washed in the first place....even after I threatened to burn the shop down...joke..
