Removing High Beam Bulb On 2nd Gen

I bought silver stars for the high beams today. Got home and pulled the plastic pieces off, and attempted to twist the black things that hold the hi beam bulbs, didn't even budge. Then again it's kinda chilly out, but is this the correct way to remove them? They seem SOOO stiff and wouldn;t budge at all whatsoever. Do i twist the counter-clockwise? Like how you would undo a bolt? Thanks!

IIRC the caps come off counter clockwise. and yes, they will be a bitch to take off. I had to use a set of pliers.
