Im considering on doing a custom grounding kit for my car with car audio #4 power cable and terminals.I wanted to know who of you did this mod??

grounding kit? i really don't know what that is..

Posted by: BanginLS

do u mean to re do all ur ground cables on the car with thicker cable? thats the only thing i can think of..

Yes, he is speaking of the cable grounding the battery to the car chassy. Replacing that with a 4 gage wire and appropriate terminal. I really dont see the point in this unless you have a large stereo system back there. To each their own.

Follow The Big Three

(At least if you're talking about pushing the electrical system on your car with alot of accesories.)

I think thats a pointless thing to do unless you are running mass amounts of power to a couple amps, just get a better battery and maybe a capacitor or 2. I've run many systems in my cars, and at least 50 others and never had to touch the original wiring of any car.

EDIT: The only real reason for doing this upgrade would be to get rid of dimming lights(if you haven't purchased a capacitor or a better battery yet), relieve stress on your charging system(check the stock wiring see if everything is still good), or keep a constant higher voltage running through your car/system.

If you encounter alternator whine, a better battery and caps won't help...

I would definitely have to have a problem before I did the Big Three (or any other) grounding mod....

No one mentioned anything about alternator whine, you can run to pep boys and get a filter for that, it's around $20-30.
