Anyone here have any experiences or can provide feedback on a 2002 Saab 9-5 Linear it has 55k, 2.3l turbo? Price-$8995.

My wife's '98 Escort threw a rod and the lowest quote I have to replace the engine is $1,750+ tax out-the-door.

I would've posted this in the Other Cars section, but several of the top threads haven't been posted to in months.

Thanks for any feedback.

drop a 5.0 in the escort.

That's really cheap, is it in good shape?

I am not a fan of none on the Saabs, but it is probably better that the Escort for sure, especially for that price.

I have heard that you can't get anybody to work on a SAAB except a dealer. Nobody else wants to work on them.

That said, I have no personal experience with that, it's just what I "heard".

Expensive to fix and crappy reliability (the past few years). Just what I've heard.

Thanks for the feedback, based on a Carfax report:

I'm still in hunt for a used car, although I might just settle with getting her a Corolla.

If you're just looking for a cheap sedan, I'd go with something like a Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, VW Jetta or Passat. You can find those cars with low miles for pretty cheap, and easy to repair, they are also easy on your wallet with repairs.
