need some help with audio wiring

I have a 1991 Town Car with the premium audio and I am not satisfied with the sub. I hopefully won't have this car for more than a few months so I don't want to spend any money on it. My idea is to connect a power inverter to the power supply going to the stock amp and use a home theater sub. I think it would work to connect the input going to the amp to some rca plugs that would work with the ht sub. Would this work? Can the fuse and relays handle the power consumption of a 350 watt sub? Any advice, wiring diagrams, ideas, or anything that could benefit this project would be appreciated.
