TC Auto Antenna Stopped

My 1990 TownCar used to have a good automatic antenna with the stock radio. when i installed another one i used all the same connections and wires but now it doesnt work. the brand of the new unit is pioneer. any special wires or harnesses i need to buy to get the antenna to go up? the radio still works just not as good of reception.
