Steering/Rack pinion question ?

I was just changing the oil in the LS and i noticed the drivers side "boot" on the steering looked oily, sure enough there is about a 1 inch tear in the rubber boot. How bad is this? I have no idea how long its been like that, didnt notice it last oil change. Is it power steering fluid leaking out? Is the boot a separate part that can be replaced separate from the entire rack? I assume this should be covered under the warranty.

my 03 did this. fluid leaked normally for a while then it got bad. needed new rack....

Got the car back this afternoon. New steering rack to the tune of $800. I guess the rubber boot isnt a seperate replaceable part. So that makes about $1500 in warranty covered repairs, about $500 for regular maintanence within the past six months. Who said the LS is an expensive car to have???
