I have a friend with an 02 LS. He has only one key and just locked it in the car.

Any suggestions on how to get it open?

His car is blocking other cars in his driveway right now and needs it moved.

Ummmm I know get a tow truck.. I need good ideas?

Call a lock shop or break a window. That's about it.

Problem solved... it was his wife who was in a panic.. I got a friend with a lock kit to head over. Wasn't sure if I'd get a hold of anyone so I thought I'd check for any other solutions you guys might have.

I sure like the key pad on the Mark VIII.

Use the remote key fob.
Use the driver side touch pad.
Call a lock smith(will be cheaper than breaking a window).

1st Gen LSes don't have the keypad. You can buy a wireless keypad from Ford that works like the keyfob remote, but it's not stock.

If you don't have one of those, you should. Mount it so it's upside down above the rear license plate. No one can ever see it that way...it's hidden. They you can use it in cases just like this. I've done this on the LS and my Cobra and it's come in handy on both cars. You can buy one for the price of one service trip by a locksmith.

I have the keypad on my Ranger. Works like a charm.

I have an '06; it came from the factory with the keypad on the door.

A local lock & key shop can usually make a door key for about $15.00 - if that. It of course won't work for the ignition but like someone else mentioned - you can put it in a magnet box beneath the vehicle and you'll never have to worry about that again...

if the moonroof is open (even vented) and the keys are within sight get a wire coat hanger and fish them out. thats what i had to do. actually, theres a funny story behind it. i was on my way to a friends house and dropped my ipod between the leather and the plastic on the door side of the drivers seat. i get there and get out and go to the backseat to try to find it and find a set of keys i had lost a few months back. as i pull the lost keys out i hit the "lock" button and get out and close the door behind me, doors locked engine running. i call my girlfriend who was at work 30 miles away. she gets there just as we're turning the engine off. we got a wire coat hanger and a jack handle taped them together and went fishing. took a few tries to figure out the angle we need to have it. had i just opened the moonroof rather than venting it there would not have been a problem. at least i found my keys.

Dave... That is some GHETTO-FIED locksmithing... HAHAHA

I've done that COUNTLESS times when I use to lock my keys in my previous P.O.S. car.

Oh man, I've been running on red bull the past 36 hours for my research paper (amongst other ) and somehow locked my keys in my car last night... goddammit!
at least it's in the garage and I took my parent's Aviator to work (kinda nice to be so high up)

Of course I do this a day before an auction for a keyless entry pad ends on Ebay
