How long can these last? On my 96, it's still stock and going to be 11 years old this March, 83k miles on the odometer. Should I start saving for a new one from Motorcraft?

my 94 has 142000 and it's still got the original alternator.

136 on original. ..

When you buy one, upgrade to the cobra alternator. It has more output for less $$.
Good thing to buy before it goes bad though.. .

The 96-98 Mark VIII's come stock with the same 130amp alternator as the Cobra. The 93-95 come stock with a Mitisibishi 120amp alternator.

Really? I thought they ALL came with 110 or 120 stock. Education for the day I guess! ..regardless you can get a 160A alternator listed for a cobra through PA Performance which is what I was speaking of and should have specified on.. . It's been awhile since I researched, I thought my alternator went out a couple years ago but had a minor wiring problem instead.

My 120a bit the dust at about 90k. 94k now and my 130a from *Rich avert your eyes* Autozone is doing fine.
