Phoned to price a power steering pump and after checking, the parts guy said he had one without hydro boost. What's Hydro Boost? I thought it had something to do with the brakes, and if so, what's it doing associated with the power steering pump? Does the Mark VII have that?

Hydroboost uses power steering vacuum to supplement /create vacuum for the master cylinder. A lot of cars use it, the cobra, the Diesel fords, etc etc.
I don't know if the mark vII used a hydroboost braking system or if it was a regular engine vacuum setup.

My '92 has Hydro-boost, it uses pressure from the power steering pump to power the brakes.

Hydroboost came on cars without ABS, ie base model Marks from '84-'87. I forgot if Diesel cars had it too and if all designer Marks came with ABS. By 1988, all cars had the ABS unless converted by an individual.

My 03 Powerstroke has ABS AND Hydroboost.

'K. Thanks for the response guys. My Mark has ABS, so I believe I'll assume no hydroboost.
