Gutt Your Ls

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: loudisgood666

Anyone else done this to their ls. i seen a stock mitsu lancer do 0-60 in 5 sec with 110 hp but it was completely gutted even the trunk lid and hood were removed along with some frame peices cut off, but anyway anyone notice that cars with half the horsepower are putting out better numbers then mine and your ls and ill cut my wrists before i let a civic smoke me. its the weight. a civic with our motor would do 10 sec quarters (just kidding but it would be damn quick) GUTT YOUR LS!!!!

unless its too pretty and you have kids/and/or/wife

What is the point of having a luxury/sport style car if its gutted? If you want a speed machine, buy a Mustang. Besides, if you have to remove everything on the car to make it go fast, it wasn't fast to begin with. I guess it's cool to that guy to go 110 in a shell of a car, but it wouldn't impress me.

and look what type of cars your comparing the LS too... A civic? A lancer?? A 2000 lb car up against something half it's weight...

Posted by: rmac694203

Sorry... LS weight is 3692lbs.. not 2000lbs.. But ya'll get the idea

Posted by: loudisgood666

in my particular situation i was attempting to make my ls faster cheaply and its made a large difference and cost nothing after not being able to afford or want to do (nos) any more performance mods i got that idea. I also dont think the "go buy a mustang" "It wasnt fast to begin with" comment made any sense to me. Our cars aint that fast to begin with thats why theres a forum like this so we can discuss what were doing to make our avereage performance stock lincolns make more power and go faster. Thats all im interested in doing with my LS. Some want 9 TV's and 22in rims and people like me dont wanna get smoked at the light.

there is not much to be gained - the door panels, rear seat, carpet are all very modern lightweight.

the base 4-door chassis is heavy, add the glass in the windows - ain't much to be gained like on the older cars where the OEs did not care about gas mileage.

I meant if you want to have a street race machine, you should try to look into something that is more performance oriented, instead of tearing apart your whole car to save 100 lbs. Don't get me wrong, I like having a car that is quick yet comfortable, but If I wanted to kill Civics and whatnot all day, I would get a car that is faster to begin with, or I would concentrate on mods that improve performance rather than sacrificing function. Whatever you want to do is cool, everyone has their own way of modding their car. Plus I bet you could gut the whole interior of your car and still not save enough weight to make it worth your while.

No matter what the car is, mankind will try to make it faster. The LS is not a slow car, we just always want it to be faster.

I have to agree with the illogic in lightening a car of this class......

My two cents (and my full plan) is to buy a SECOND LS, mileage not a concern... but I just saw a 2002 for $3000... anyhow, STRIP it... seats, panels, motor, EVERYTHING... then I'm thinking 4.6 NA or small SC... just tweak at every part... no, it won't really have luxury in it anymore.... but it will surprise the out of anyone thinking its just a bingo-mobile...

Easily doable with a turbo on the 3.9 V8. In my professional opinion I think 360rwhp is doable while still being safe with these motors and tranny's.

Never lost a race to a honda. {EVER} I'd be ashamed if I did. I guess I haven't ran my mouth off to any s2k's owners lately, though.

As a general rule of thumb... for every 100 lbs of weight you shave from your vehicle it will typically correspond to 1/10th of a second of time shaved on your 1/4 mile slip.

Posted by: Garbone

Whats that saying...even if you win the race with a honda, you still look retarded...something like that?

Why all the honda hate?
