2nd gen hid

i had a hid out on my 97 and they were backordered forever. I just got one today and went to put the bulb in, but i have no power to the bulb now. I'm wondering if i drove with the bulb out for to long and burned up the ballast? Anyone have any other ideas before i take my bumper cover and everything else off?

Did you try the capsule in the other side? If not, please do so - that we we can rule out a defective capsule. The ballast should be fine unless it is what went in the first place and the old capsule was always fine.

capsule? I put the new bulb in and when it didn't work i checked for power and there isnt any, but on the other side the headlight works and has power.

Ya, its a HID capsule, not a bulb, but thats just arguing semantics. Well if your not getting power, as in you tested the socket with a meter, then the ballast is probably shot. They usually last a long time, its odd that it would go. A bad HID "bulb" would not cause the ballast to go out.
