Hi -- I am a new member to LVC and just want to say hello. I am 65 years old and retired. I have owned two new cars in my lifetime a 1973 VW beetle and a 1980 Chevette. All my other cars were used cars, and most had 100,000 miles when I bought them. I never owned a car with AC, power windows, etc . until I bought my neighbor's 3 year old 1985 Buick Century back in 1988 at which point I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I always wanted a fancy car like a Lincoln or a Cadillac but in the old days I never thought I would ever be able to afford one. But sometimes life is good, and in 1993 I bought a 1984 Lincoln Mark VII (dark blue with red interior) with 128,000 miles on it. I really liked that car and drove it until 180,000 at which point I decided maintenance costs were getting too high. Then in 2001 I bought a 1996 Lincoln Town Car (Executive Series - Green with Tan cloth top). It had 43,000 miles on it and cost $10,800 (much more money than I had spent on any car in my lifetime). But it is a beautiful car and is in pristine condition. I now have 95,000 miles on it, and it still rides like it was brand new. Well, that is it, except to say that I expect all of us who drive a Lincoln or Cadillac feel like a king on the road and admire (the wisdom of) others who drive these cars. -- Regards, Al
