Well today is one that is very regretful. I was driving down 94 in the left lane when all of a sudden, i feel like im floating. The car started drifting toward the concrete median, i turned the wheel to the right and pressed on the brakes gently, but to no effect. I almost completed a 180 when. A driver hit my front end pretty much dead on with theres, spinning my car back 180 and eventually skidding to a hault on the shoulder. The bumper needs to be replaced indefinitely, along with the grille and drivers headlight. The hood is also jacked out of alignment, so im guessing the core support is whack too. Its a pretty big mess right now, im just tryin to get things sorted out. I didnt file a police report, because of the fact, i can get bumper for 35 bucks and a grill for about 20. With my 500 dollar deductable, i think it would have been a big hassle with the ticket and everything along with court costs. If anybody could help or lend a hand when needed sometime in the future to fix the car, that would be great.

ouch man, be happy your alright atleast.

no worries the mark will soon be back on its feet

Posted by: MarkVIII93

eh, i would have rather have my arm broken than my car damaged.

Posted by: MediumD

You can get a grille for $20?!? Where?

Posted by: Sergmark

Wow,
That sucks, your lucky you werent hurt
I might be able to lend a hand when needed, Let me know ok !

Posted by: billcu

I can help too Brendan. I've got an old headlight, the reflector isn't that great but it looks OK and will work until or if you get another one.

We could make a small meet out of this.

Sorry to hear of the accedent. Good thing you are still with us.

Let me know what you need also. I'll see what I can help you with.

Posted by: 94m5

not sure what I have back home, but your welcome to anything I have. As long as it's not bolted to my 95.

Mike

thanks guys. Heres the damage. Only thing wrong with the headlight is the top fastener/adjuster that just broke off. So it looks like ill be riding ghetto for a while till money for the bumper and grille come.

Posted by: MarkVIII93

one thing that will bother me.. is this driver that hit me was the ONLY one in this lane. If it werent for him, i would still be sitting here with a cleaaan asss mark viii.

Are t-bird core supports much different than marks? and the metal bumper piece?

Anything metal should be 'frame pulled' at a body shop. Shouldn't cost more than 2-300 unless it's a large city, or they're raping you.

Header panel you definately want a mark viii of course.

You can't use any tbird parts.

It's really not that bad. I've had a mark look alot worse than that and didn't have to replace any of the structure.

Posted by: 1993_M75

That looks like it would be about $1500 at the body shop I use...... but they do DAMN good work.

Posted by: Sergmark

Brendan,
It's hard to tell in the picture, but looks like the metal bumper support may not be damaged, even if it is a bit you could just replace the bumper cover , since the metal one is just for protection and support.
The cover easly unbolts just many screws!!

Posted by: 04SSHD

sorry to hear that, at least the damage is not all that bad.

Posted by: driller

Sorry to hear of your bad luck.

Damage doesn't look that bad, you got lucky. Usually a good smack in the front pretty much totals these cars as far as insurance is concerned.

Posted by: GMAN

This damage happened to me in May of 05. Someone backed into the drivers side of my front fender. Damaged my front fender, hood, grill and front bumper cover. I tried to claim it on my insurance. The estimate came out to $5000.00 needless to say I withdrew my claim with my insurance, because I knew they were going to total my car. So I went to the salvage yards, and I hit a stroke of luck on the second day of searching. I found a green that had passenger side damage. I was able to get the hood, fender, head light panel, front bumper cover and a grill intact. But as a result of the hit, I found that the front core support was bent. I didn't find this out until after I put everything back together. My hood dosen't line up now. It is not bad, but it is noticeable. I have to work on that next. Check out my threads.

Fender Bender and Hood Not Closing Properly.

I'm getting a parts car mark that got totaled. The car got hit on the door and quarter panel on the drivers side, $2200 estimate the car blue booked at $2100. The kid got to buy the car back from the insurance company after they totaled it for $50.

Marks just seem to be too expensive to fix and aren't worth much.

Posted by: MarkVIII93

If anybody has or knows where parts cars are. let me know. Everybody keep an eye open for front end parts.

Is there any way that you could just get me the white piece that holds it to the header panel. Thats all i really need right now.

Posted by: billcu

Do you mean this part?

If so, I can't help you.

Just kidding. I pulled the old headlights out of the garage today. Out of 4 nasty headlights, only one had the white mount that wasn't broken off. They are tricky to remove so I took a broken one off first to make sure I could do it (the one on the right).

Someone told me that you could buy replacements for these. I'm not sure about that though.

You can have this one if you want.

Posted by: MarkVIII93

Thanks Bill. I have it ghetto tie strapped on for now. It will keep the headlight up instead of at the ground. How did you go about removing the clip? i just popped the ball out of it and fed the strap through.

Posted by: billcu

Those clips are a pain too. I just use small needle nose vice grips and a hook tool or a screwdriver to unlock them.

I've heard that there is a special tool but, I've never seen one.

Convertible Internal & External Snap Ring Pliers ...

Use the 90 degree angle tips.

Posted by: JC1994

that sucks man, mine hydroplaned on me a couple of years ago but I was able to keep from hitting anything. I went and bought new tires the next day.

Posted by: rmac694203

Yeah my tires are pretty screwed now. I should get new ones before winter maybe...
