Bad Coil

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Did my 1st repair job on the LS today. Took me around 3 hours with a buddy to replace the spark plugs and coil #7. Everything went perfect until I torqued down the last bolt on the valve cover. Must have been weak b/c the head snapped right off. So now I have to figure out how to fix it, beside tapping it. Any ideas?

you could try one of those reverse thread stud/screw extractors sears sells. they work pretty good. Are you talking about the actual valve cover bolts or or just the little (7mm IIRC) bolts on the coil covers?

yeah the 7mm on the coil cover

Why bother replacing it? Just leave it, the other bolts should hold the COP cover just fine. I've lost several after my numerous coil changes and I purposly left off the lower one's towards the firewall which are always a PITA to get to. You should be fine without it... just make sure the gasket is in good shape.
