good info indeed. Perhpas a re-post of this under a "performance" forum? Something that would make it easier to find when you are looking like info on the fly?

when was the 3.9 added to the modular family?

Posted by: joka

found another on fuel injection systems

I found out recently the 93-95 Mark VIII rods are the same as the 2V rods and only the 96-98 Mark VIII's got the Cobra rods.

probably when the SHO was introduced as a V8? Or was it when the LS/S type was introduced?

Posted by: 98LSC32V

The Sho V8 is a 3.4 DOHC, the 3.9 DOHC was introduced in the Lincoln LS in 1999 or 2000 I think. It got variable valve timing a couple years later.

Same pistons as the 2V as well. Cobra had unique internals.

For your information the Cobra R model used motor mounts that lowered the engine in the chassis 12mm, It did however, bolt onto the standard Mustang cross member. Something to think about if you are having hood clearance issues.

Might be useful information for the people that have installed a cobra intake in thier Gen1, and can't close the hood.
