font brake pads.. help

on my 2nd gen lincoln, i see their is the two clips.. do theese go in the slot on the caliper, meaning squeeze the clips and push in the two slots... or do i simply slide the caliper over them after they are in the craddle..

They just sit in the cradle on the caliper.
