Does a 94 Mark VIII come with a steel crank, and is it a 6 or 8 bolt pattern?

Thanks

Posted by: evillally

6-bolt cast.

Posted by: Dern Humpus

6 bolts per journal? Or 3 main caps 2 each?

Or flywheel?

Posted by: Moes8

6 bolt mains.

6 bolt fly?

Posted by: Dern Humpus

6 bolt pattern on the flywheel.

Anyone have pics?

I found this, but I dont believe it is quite the same as ours

My question was directed toward the crank not the mains. I have found conflicting information as to whether the crank is steel or cast. I was told that an easy way to tell was if the crank had eight bolts it was steel and if it has 6 it is cast and that not all Mark VIII had the same crank. I was also told that some of the cast cranks had 8 bolts. All of your help is apprectiated but I was looking for some definitive answers.

Thank You for all the responses

That would be the 4.6L SOHC Mustang GT crank.

It is both. Cast steel. You can have a forged crank or a cast crank. It is cast steel.

Only the 1999-2000 4.6 SOHC Windsor cranks.

Thanks for the info, I just worded my question wrong, wasnt sure if they were forged or cast. I have a project Im working on and prefer a forged crank however, I have found 3 wrecked 94 Mark VIIIs that I can get the motors from very cheap. According to a few sources these cars have the Teksid block, which I understand to be the one desired by most.

I don't think any mark years came with a forged crank.
