Car & Driver reviews the new 2007 Lincoln Navigator

Just received my C&D yesterday, and they did a comparison test between the Gator, the new Escalade, Inifiniti QX56, AUdi Q7, and MB GL-450.

Looking at the new pictures of the Navi, the giant grille doesn't look as hideous as when we first saw it (the headlights are similar to those on the QX56). I like the retro styled dash of the Navi, but evidently, C&D hated it. The Navigator came in last, at 5th place.

Highs: The roof, of course, and the lookout tower view of the road, power folding seats.

Lows: The noisy tires, crude interior textures, and the 1958-all-over-again instrument cluster.

The Verdict: What are they thinking?

Some quotes: "This truck is an extremist int he SUV world, offering big and bland in wholesale quantities... Performance is weakest of the group in all respects. Only the Vanigator requires more than 8s ecodns to accelerate from 0-60...Tire noise is bad.

Holds the largest hunk of plywood flat on its floor, superior head and legroom. "

Some quotes on the 2007 Escalade: "55 pound seats don't fold flat...Interior feels cramped. Second row captain's chairs are bolted in place, no sliding tracks. Despite its flash, the Escalade doesn't stray far from its trucky ancestors. Interior space, and the usefulness of that space, is disappointing. At $66,110 as tested, it seems abmitiously priced."

Highs: rear view tv camera, broad center armrest, brawny torque curve.
Lows: Ancient tilt column, skimpy people space, glare from white furniture interior.

The Verdict: Famous for being famous.

Yeah, I know about that, but to me I personally think they should keep the 03-06 style still going, maybe change it up just a bit, not re customize it.

The only thing that makes me think about that article is that the Navi got 5th and the Escalade got 4th. This goes to prove that Car and Driver just can't say anything good about a car-unless it is a BMW, Benz or Audi. If you read it regularly you know what I mean. P.S. A 50'5 gauge style shouldn't qualify for a low in a SUV comparison. That is an opinion, not a weak point in design. It is not a secret that they have been using style from the early Conti's for concepts and production.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. C&D bends over backwards to praise the imports, which are good, but not that good.
