Holly Sh*t, Thats My Car!

I have been having intermittent starting problems with my LS for about 8 months now. My car has been at the dealership for almost 2 weeks now, and this is the 5th time that the car has been there for the same problem. I was starting to wonder if they were just jerking me around because the car had been there so long, but I wasn't too mad because they did provide me with a rental car(2006 FreeStar) this time.

So today, I decide to drop by the dealership to find out whats really going on. Instead of talking to service manager, I find the tech and ask him whats going on. The tech tells me that they found a bad junction box in the trunk, and that they wound also be replacing the wiring harness that goes from the trunk to the front of the car. Then he tells me that I can take a look.

I walk around to the back of the car and look in the trunk. I see that all of the carpeting is pulled out of the trunk. I think to myself "ok they are making some progress and they should be done in a couple days". Then I walk around to the front of the car and look in the window. MY EYES POP!

The car looks like it has been stolen and stripped. The entire interior is pulled apart. The following parts were removed: rear seats, rear deck lid(covers speakers), passenger seat, center consol, steering wheel, entire dash board. I couldn't believe it!

They say that it might be ready early next week. I really hope that they put it together correctly because the car is half taken apart. where would i be without my warranty!

 What was the starting problem exactly?

Most LSs i find with an intermittent no crank is due to loose battery cable connections behind the left front dead pedal and the right front in footwell area where teh battery cables meet the firewall.

anyway hope it fixes your problem. The battery junction box in the trunk is part of the main body harness as you can see. So yeah the entire car has to come apart to change it. Quite a stupid design on fords part.

i had that problem a couple of times where it took about 20 minutes before it started. while i was waiting for a friend to come and help find the problem the info center popped up with a message saying something like "shift range sensor error" so i immediately pushed the shifter forward and the car started right up. i guess that even though it was in park it thought it was in reverse therefore not allowing the motor to crank.
